I believe that the theme behind the title is shown through the piece it self. It conducts a sense of freedom and light. The colours contribute to a sense of space and distance between each of the abstracted individual pieces.
ReplyDelete1.What are the themes behind the title “Last ride...” for the Auckland triennial?
ReplyDeleteThe main theme behind the title the “Last ride...” is the examination of the ongoing relationship between adventure and risk taking in contemporary art today. Most of the artwork examines what adventure means and its different pathways, travelling within our own spaces and environments.
2. What does a curator of an exhibition do?
A curator of an exibition is basically someone who is in charge of the general layout of the work presented etc, in this case Natasha Conland is the curator of the 4th Auckland triennial and has attempted to achieve roam and space within our city, whilst activating pathways and unifying travel. It is her job to put ideas into dialogue and so forth. Her vision was to create an intangible and excitable openended experience, rather than metaphorically speaking, a walk through a thesis.
3.Which countries are represented in this years triennial?
The main focus of this triennial is the lateral axis between Asia and the Middle East. Both these countries are represented in way of their relationships and their historical roots.
6. Is Auckland the only country to have a triennal? Are there other similar art shows?
No there are other international and regional triennals of a similar nature.

Bryne uses photographic installations to enagage “the recent past in order to describe a “future” sensibility.” Each picture is in a different time, yet of the same place, composed to create an overall image of disfunction, in attempt to recreate a workable scene rather artistically.
7.Comment on why you find this work interesting, how does it relate to your own interests?
I find this work interesting because it plays with the landscape in a creative way rather than changing what is there altogether. It depicts certain imagery and brings it together in a new scene to observe, in stages.
Ok i think this sculpture has a lot of meaning behind it i think this might have something to do with youth and how they are being raised in dark time. I believe that the theme conducts a sense of freedom and being trapped.
